Ingredients

Scale

1 tbsp (15 mL) oil

1 lb (500 g) Lean Ground Beef

1 shallot, finely chopped

1 large clove garlic, minced

1 tbsp (15 mL) minced fresh gingerroot

3 tbsp (45 mL) packed brown sugar

¼ cup (60 mL) reduced-sodium

soy sauce

1 tbsp (15 mL) sesame oil

½ tsp (2 mL) sriracha

1 bag (14 oz/397 g) coleslaw mix

3 cups (750 mL) crispy (fried) chow mein noodles

Instructions

  1. Heat oil over medium-high heat in a large nonstick skillet. Cook beef, shallot, garlic and ginger, stirring often and using back of spoon to break up meat into small chunks, for about 8 to 10 minutes or until browned. Drain, if necessary.
  2. Stir in sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil and sriracha. Add coleslaw and cook, stirring, for about 4 minutes or until coleslaw wilts. Add chow mein noodles and stir until well coated.
