Beef Steak Bites

  • Author: ThinkBeef
  • Prep Time: 3 minutes
  • Cook Time: 10 minutes
  • Total Time: 13 minutes
  • Yield: Serves 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 Beef Strip Loin Grilling Steak, 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick (see Notes)

1 tsp (5 mL) oil

1/2 tsp (2 mL) fresh ground pepper

1/4 tsp (1 mL) salt

Horseradish Dip and/or Bombay Dip (See below)

Instructions

  1. Pat steak dry with paper towel; rub with oil and season all over with pepper and salt. Place steak in basket of air fryer and cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes or until a digital instant-read thermometer inserted sideways into centre of steak reads 145°F (63°C) for medium-rare doneness at the least (or 160°F/71°C for medium, or 170°F/77°C for well-done).
  2. Transfer to cutting board and let rest for 5 minutes. Cut steak into bite-size cubes to serve. Serve with dip, as desired.

Horseradish Dip: Combine ¼ cup (60 mL) plain Greek yogurt, 1 tbsp (15 mL) EACH mayonnaise and minced fresh herbs (e.g. parsley, basil, tarragon, chives), 2 tsp (10 mL) prepared horseradish, 1 tsp (5 mL) fresh lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.

Bombay Dip: Combine 3 tbsp (45 mL) mayonnaise, 1 tbsp (15 mL) EACH white vinegar and mango chutney, 2 tsp (10 mL) minced green onion or chives, ½ tsp (2 mL) EACH curry powder and minced garlic.

Notes

You can use 10 oz (300 g) of other 1 inch (2.5 cm) grilling steaks for this recipe such as Top Sirloin or Top Sirloin Cap.

Depending on your air fryer, the cooking time may vary; add 2 to 3 minutes more cooking time, as necessary. Use a digital instant-read thermometer inserted sideways into the steak for the best way to determine doneness.

Instead of air frying, you can pan-fry steak in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat or grill in a closed preheated barbecue over medium-high heat (400°F/200°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, turning twice or more, or until a digital instant-read thermometer inserted sideways into centre of steak reads 145°F (63°C) for medium-rare doneness at the least.
